LIS DE VRIES

I am a textile artist based in Naarm Melbourne, Australia and create textile pieces using techniques such as weaving, printing and embellishment. Weaving is my passion, I weave mostly on an 8-shaft floor loom. I also teach weaving.

 

My pieces explore the use of fragments and remnants, they are bold, sometimes contain form, and feature non-fibre elements such as leather, seaweed and wire. My piece, 'Shagpile' received a Best in Object Design Award at the 2022 Melbourne Design Fringe.
